Scope of this page

The dated chronology of every release window Beautiful Light has publicly carried, the measured distance between them, and a contradiction between two 2023 announcements.

The most recent official statement wins against everything older. Today the storefront listing shows a December 2026 window with no published day, and that is the only window this site treats as current. The rest of this page is a record of what was said before, and of how far it has moved.

The earliest window found in a qualified source is early 2024. On 2023-05-31, in the post reporting the studio's first playtests, the text reads that the release « remains scheduled for early 2024 », immediately followed by the studio's own warning that the task ahead was monumental and the deadline would undoubtedly be challenging to meet. The caution was published with the date, in the same sentence group.

Six weeks earlier, on 2023-04-21, the frequently-asked-questions post had given a different plan: a playable build as a demo in mid-2025, and an open Early Access at the end of 2025. Both statements are official, both are dated, and they do not agree. This site records the disagreement and does not resolve it: a Steam post can be edited after publication, and what is observable today is what each post shows at the consultation date, not what it showed on the day it appeared.

Measured against the current listing, the early-2024 window has moved by roughly three years, and the end-of-2025 open Early Access plan by about a year. Neither the demo announced for mid-2025 nor the open Early Access announced for the end of 2025 has been delivered under those terms.

None of this is presented as a criticism or a prediction. A window is a stated intention at its date; the only thing this page establishes is which windows were stated, when, and how far apart they are.

Chronology

Three windows, three dates

Each line quotes a dated statement. The distance is measured against the window the storefront displays today.

  • Stated 2023-04-21

A playable build as a demo in mid-2025, and an open Early Access at the end of 2025. Neither was delivered under those terms.

  • Stated 2023-05-31

The release « remains scheduled for early 2024 », with the studio's own warning that the deadline would be challenging to meet.

  • Listed 2026-08-29

A December 2026 window, with no published calendar day. This is the only current window.

  • Distance moved

About three years from the early-2024 window, and about a year from the end-of-2025 Early Access plan.

Recorded, not resolved

Two official statements, six weeks apart, that disagree

The April 2023 post plans a demo for mid-2025 and an open Early Access for the end of 2025. The May 2023 post says the release remains scheduled for early 2024. Read together, the two cannot both describe the same plan.

This site does not choose between them and does not invent a reconciliation. A post on this channel can be edited after publication, so the only defensible statement is that each post shows what it shows at the date it was consulted. Recording the disagreement is more useful than hiding it behind a smoothed timeline.

Excluded

What this page does not do

A moved window is a fact about announcements. It is not evidence about the game, the studio's competence, or the next date.

  • No prediction

Nothing here estimates whether the December 2026 window will hold.

  • No day

No calendar day is published for December 2026, and none is inferred.

  • No judgement

A delay is recorded as a distance between dated statements, and nothing more.

Source basis

Documented basis

Each reference shows its identifier, consultation date, and scope.

Evidence statement: Official statements of 2023-04-21 and 2023-05-31 attach different release plans to Beautiful Light — a mid-2025 demo with an end-of-2025 open Early Access in the first, and a release that « remains scheduled for early 2024 » in the second — while the Steam product page consulted on 2026-08-29 displays a December 2026 window with no published day; the two 2023 statements do not agree and the disagreement is recorded rather than resolved.

Boundary

Editorial boundary

Each window on this page is quoted from a dated official statement. The current listing is the only one that describes the present; the others are records, and one pair of them disagrees.
