Scope of this page

A dated, attributed record of the 2023 official FAQ post: team size, playtest access, language list, announced prices, and release plans that later listings have overtaken.

The author and channel are part of the record: Matavatar published this FAQ on the official Beautiful Light Steam News channel on 2023-04-21.

The post gave a team of 12 people at that date, after two developers had started the project about four years earlier, and said most team members were freelancers, many of them from modding communities.

It listed 15 languages and added that the list may vary depending on wishlist localisation data. It quoted a Standard Edition at EUR 39.99 and a Supporter Edition at EUR 69.99, described as prices in France used as a reference, with localisation by region.

Its release plan was a playable demo in mid-2025 and an open Early Access at the end of 2025. Both dates have passed without either being delivered under those terms, and the current storefront listings show a December 2026 window. This page keeps the 2023 statement as a dated record and does not present it as the current plan.

On platforms, the post said the game would release on PC through Steam, and described PS5 and Xbox Series X only as a possibility being considered. On cheating, it explicitly refused to promise a solution.

The source is a dated official announcement

The source identifies its author, its channel, and its publication date. Those three coordinates stay visible so the page cannot be read as an undated current status.

What the FAQ answered

The post grouped several unrelated subjects. Each is kept at announcement level, attributed to its date, and none is turned into a current field of the site.

  • Team

12 people at that date, after two developers had worked about four years

  • Playtests

Small Discord sessions, access through an insider role, no large playtest at that date

  • Languages

A 15-language list, said to depend on wishlist localisation data

  • Prices

Standard Edition EUR 39.99 and Supporter Edition EUR 69.99, quoted as French reference prices

Condition

Two announced dates that have been overtaken

The most recent official communication wins against everything older. This page records the 2023 plan and points to the current listing instead of averaging the two.

  • Announced in 2023

Playable demo in mid-2025; open Early Access at the end of 2025

  • Current listings

A December 2026 window, with no published day

  • Prices today

No price is published by either storefront for the pre-release listing

What this page does not establish

A historical answer is not a commitment and not a current field. Nothing here is read as a delivered feature, a live price, or a confirmed platform.

  • Not current

Prices, dates and team size are 2023 statements, not present values

  • Consoles

Described as under consideration only; no console release is established

  • Excluded

Route, statistic, build, catalogue, in-game location, and any current-state claim

Boundary

Editorial boundary

This page records what the 2023-04-21 post said. Its release plans and prices are historical statements, and they are not the current state: the storefronts now list a December 2026 window and publish no price.
